Looking Back At Your Preliminary Task, What Do You Feel You Have Learnt In The Progression From It To The Full Product?














FRONT COVER

• The quality of the images is much better compaired to the older magazine. for the new magaizne i have taken more care on the mise-en-scene so it looked like theimage was planned out better.

• The picture quality is better becasue of the different cameras used. the older image was done with a basic cyershot camera, whereas the new images were taken on SLR cameras.

• The layout of the magazine is clearly better planned as i took more consideration into the type of angle used.
• The genre of the magazine is much clearer compaired to the other magazine which is very difficult to define.
• Small touches on the new cover make it look more believable and more realsitic to the viewer and it make it better to look at then the preliminary cover

• 

• New content is more detailed, the text it better plaecd and the images are better placed
  
• There are no blank spaces on the new content page so it lookes better placed and well thought out
• The text makes the page look better and and makes it look like the space is all used instead of having gaps in the page
• The preliminary looks like it was put together in 5 minutes and the new one looks more professional and detailed

I used the SLR camera to make sure i had the best quality picture possible.

I have used blogger to help people see the progress I have made with ther magazine in the last few months. each lesson I would try to update this to make the journey of what I have done clear

I used photoshop as the only program to make my music magazine. And it gave me everything I needed and made it simple to make the magazine.

I used this program so I could talk about media distribution.

I used prezi in one of my evaluation question to show the how I would distribute my music magazine and how I would distribute it.

I used the IshowU program in my evaluation so I could show you how my magazine and also give you a little tour of how the osftware Ihave used works

This would be my ideal target audience because of the style they have and the age group and he fact they are a student boost the fact that they listen to dance music as this is the music the generation listens to.

HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT PATICULAR SOCIAL GROUP?

This is a split scene grap of my model and a current dance music magazine

Posture: The model I have used on the front cover of my magazine is the same one as the image have of Darren styles. it gives the impression that the image is looking at you and make it you ingage with the image.

Gesture : The gesture being made on my model is very similar to the image of Darren Styles as they are both in the same position and look the same.

Angle : The angle of the camera is front on. so you can see the models full face and also so you can ingage with the model and want to buy the magazine.

Shot Type: For the shot type I have used a mid close-up and so all the attention is on the models face. it also give you a slight impression of what the model is wearing.

This is an up to date version of my content page. The content page fits in well with the style of the front cover and double page spread I have created so it will all look like one magazine.

Research and PLanning: Images for content page

these are the images that will be placed on my content page as the main image. It will cover most of the page so the rest of the page can be covered in writing. I have made the model wear the colour clothing she is wearing as it make the colour scheme fit better to the rest of the magazine and make all the pages flow better. These movement I was trying to capture was one I have seen on a existing content page for mixmag so i have copied the style so it looks like a realistic magazine

This is my finished magazine cover. I have chosen not to place font all down the sides of the cover, on existing mixmag covers the font some times obscures the image and make the main image seem less important.

These are my new head shots for the cover of my magazine. I have chosen to take more images and change my magainze again because the old images were to distant and did not suit the style of the magazine.

This is the first draft of my new double page spread.

I have changed style and theme from my original double page spread to make it fit in more with the dance music genre.

The problem with the first draft of my double page spread was that the story did not really tie in with the images I had taken and the model I had used did not suit the genre of magazine.

For the new double page spread I have changed the model as I think this person fits in better with the style and genre of the magazine. I have chosen to dress the model like this because in other dance music magazine the artist are all dressed in a similar way and have all taken on a more indie style of dress.

After looking at some of the other double page spreads I will use another style to make a new double page spread more related to my theme of dance music

Choice between images for double page spread

These are the two pictures I have taken for the double page spread.

I cannot decided between these two images as they both fit into the style of the magazine and both have the same sort of pose.

The problem I am facing is the clarity of the models face in the picture on the right as it is slightly out of focus. The picture on the left the clarity is much better however, the picture on the right has the lense glare from the sun giving it a more dynamic look.

Te orientation of the photograph on the left would make it easier to put on my double page spread as I have planned to have the main story on one page and the photograph on the other.

If I was to use the photo on the right I would have to change the images size or ever crop it but then there would be a chance of some of the image being lost.

Research and Planning: Exsiting artists props

• This is an existing drum and bass band called "Pendulum". They use props and equipment that may feature on the cover of my magazine for example :

• mic
• Speakers
• mixing desks
• drum kit
• strobe lighting
• keyboards/synthesizer
• lasers

This is basic equipment and props for a dance music band, as they use all this equipment to make their genre of music.

Research and Planning: Colour scheme for music magazine

This is a dance CD cover, I have chosen this cover becuase I will use the same colour scheme on my music magazine as this is a conventional colour scheme for this genre of music.

I like the use of one colour as the dominent colour and then layers of other colours in small sections to make it stand out more and make more of an affect of the person who is looking at at as it is more eye catching due to the bright colours.

I may use the same colour scheme on my music magazine as they are relate to the main story and also will make the images i have taken stand out more. If i choose not to use these colours I will still use the same style s i think it would work will with the genre of my music magazine.

Research and Planning: Ideas for double page story

As the theme of my magazine is dance I plan on using the time of year (winter) to give the main story "Adam Hilton, hottest DJ of 2010" I have chosen this idea to reflect the past year in dance music.

The story will consit of how he has come from nothing in the music world to the biggist name in the business. I will then go on to the question part of the article where I will ask question like, what will he be doing for the rest of the year and what do you do when you are not working in the clubs. This will keep the theme of the magazine consistant and make it easier to follow.

Research and Planning: Existing artists for content page

This is one of the existing artist already working in the dance music industy. I have chosen to feature Darren Styles on my content page as a dance music would include his tours and gigs around the globe and also see what he is doing at the time. i will aslo use other existing artist from the dance music genre such as breeze and scooter as these are some of the biggist names in dance music and would be are included in other existing dance music magazine.

Research and Planning: Preliminary content page

This is my preliminary content page i have designed and made in indesign in class.

I started the page by chooseing my background colour so so I could then choose images that work well with the colour. I used black as it is a easy colour to use and make other images stand out and make it more eye catching.

I then started with the text so I could place it and then move on to th text colour the text layout is basic but is easy to see and read. I had made the text on the page white as it would make the text stand and and also make it easy to read .

Research and Planning: Target audience

The target audience for my music magazine are people:

Ages 21- 35. I have chosen to make the magazine for this age group because this is the main age people go out to clubs and like dance music.

Gender: The magazine will be targeted to reach both male and female as both genders are interested in dance music.

Occupation: The magazine will be aimed at young professionals as the magazine will be more sophisticated

Wealth: this magazine will be aimed at people who are in work and have a bit more money then most as paying for night clubs and other gigs is expensive and these are the people I will try to target.

Interests: The audience has to have an interest in dance music to buy the magazine they must also have a good interest in gigs going on throughout the country.

Outlook for future: the magazine will be aimed at people who want a good job in the future but want to go out and enjoy life at this time.

Research and Planning: Plans for the magazine

By the end of the day I hope to finish my content page and my front cover for my magazine. As there is no more time in lesson, to finish this work I will have to do it in my free time. This is not a problem as I only have some images to place on my content page and a small amount of text on my content page.

After having to delete the original background for my main cover page image I have decided that I will give the image a new background to fit into the theme of dance music. I will use a laser machine effect from a previous picture I have taken from work to make the image more realistic then I will simple photo shop my model into the image to make it look like he was there.

This will hopefully make the magazine more believable and give the front cover a better feel to it. the only problem I may have is that the background image may look a bigger scale to the original photo and I may have to play with the scaling of the image to make it look as natural as possible.

For the double page spread of the magazine I will be talking to the the main person that is featuring on my magazine I will talk about how he has progressed and what he plans to do.

I will then give an interview to make my magazine look more genuine and make it more interesting to read.

I have choesn to call the article "The Winters Hottest DJ" as it ties in with the season and it will tie some of the other pictures featured in my magazine better.
